The project

Melissa, a registered mobile massage therapist, contacted me to design a custom Squarespace website and establish her online presence. She was operating along the Sea-to-Sky and Lower Mainland regions, but wanted to redefine her offerings with a targeted audience based in Whistler, offering services for both visitors and locals. With beautifully curated photography at her disposal, Melissa desired a website that would reflect her expertise, her unique approach, and the natural beauty of Whistler.

The Squarespace website design process

Our collaboration began with a comprehensive questionnaire, gathering inspiration, and a strategy call to understand Melissa’s vision and the new direction of her business. As she did not have any existing branding, I developed web branding inspired by nature that also complemented her professional photography. This included a moodboard, text-based logo, color palette, font system, and favicon design. Meanwhile, Melissa compiled all the content for her website, including images and text. Before the web design process we reviewed these together to optimize them.

The main focus of her offerings catered to two types of audiences: locals and visitors in Whistler. Therefore, it was crucial to clearly define a web structure that would encompass both groups. After gaining a deeper understanding of Melissa's practice, it became important to reflect the immersive experience of her treatments in the website design. This was achieved through a striking and custom-coded site title animation, large images, and sections with contrasting elements.

Key considerations for the website design included a strong focus on user experience, emphasizing easy booking, addressing common questions through FAQs, presenting her services including pricing and inclusions clearly, and straightforward calls-to-actions.

Upon project completion, we provided Melissa with a comprehensive guide and training to manage and update her website independently.

The result is a custom Squarespace website with a strong brand identity that truly translates Melissa's personality, the depth of her treatments, and the natural beauty of Whistler. The new website is recognizable, easy to navigate, and effectively streamlines the process for both Melissa and her potential clients while catering both audiences.
