Squarespace Website Redesign

Fold em is a podcast featuring interviews with gamblers and their family members along with information and strategies from professionals specializing in gambling addiction.

The project

Adrienne contacted me to redesign her Squarespace website. The existing site lacked identity, felt outdated, and was very hard to navigate. Users struggled to find resources, information, and podcast episodes. Each episode was presented through a blog, but without a proper structure, categories, or tags.

The primary goals of the redesign were to increase brand awareness and improve the blog to help visitors easily find the episodes they wanted to listen to or read. Additionally, the design needed to be more modern and user-friendly.

The Squarespace website design process

I started with a comprehensive web branding process, including the creation of a brand mood board, color palette, and typography system. I also conducted stock photography research to find images that would support the project's goals and resonate with the audience. Given the content-heavy nature of the site, optimizing the header navigation was crucial to ensure visitors could easily find the support they needed. I also integrated a footer, which was previously missing, to enhance navigation and accessibility.

The blog containing the podcast episodes underwent a complete overhaul. Adrienne and I collaborated to prepare strategic categories that would help visitors browse the content more effectively. With over 100 episodes, it was essential to create an advanced and custom filtering system to embed the episodes seamlessly.

Over the course of two weeks, I designed and developed a custom Squarespace website for Fold em. The process began with creating the homepage wireframe and key sections, ensuring the site was visually appealing and functional. The custom-coded elements were documented in a video recording and a PDF guide, enabling Adrienne to make future updates on her own.

The outcome of our web design collaboration is a clean, informative, and easy-to-navigate website that effectively reflects the podcast's identity. The new structure makes it easy for visitors to find and access the resources and episodes they need. The website is now recognizable and organized, allowing Adrienne to add new episodes in an efficient and orderly manner.

“ I highly recommend Audrey. She did a website refresh project for me and the results were outstanding. Audrey spent a lot of time in the front-end clarifying my needs and creating a workplan for us both. She brought very strong design skills to the project, had great communication with me throughout and completed on time.”
